Twitter Support Removed from CruisersEmail and Xgate

Twitter Support Removed from CruisersEmail and Xgate

Background

Twitter has deprecated support for TLS 1.0 (its transport layer security protocols) and updated its Application Program Interface (API) documentation to support only TLS 1.2 or higher.

The CruisersEmail and Xgate servers do not support the newer TLS protocols and only support TLS 1.0

As a consequence of this change, CruisersEmail no longer supports Twitter posting.  The Tweet option has been removed from XGate and CruisersEmail apps as of iOS 4.2.2  and will be removed from the Android and Windows/Mac Apps in upcoming app updates.

Other CruisersEmail services are unaffected.

CruisersEmail is an ideal solution for any social media or blogging platform that allows for update via email. This includes the world’s most popular publishing format, WordPress.

This change affects Xgate and CruisersEmail Services

Workarounds:

1.) Iridium Mail and Web v3.0.3 maintains Twitter support for users of this app. (Only available to users with Iridium airtime)

2.) Configure Wordpress Email Posting and then link Twitter and Facebook Accounts to Wordpress
