Configuring Optimizer to allow Whatsapp:
Below are the instructions on configuring WhatsApp (an example)
- Connect to the Optimizer's Wifi network. (ie: wxa-223-56fe, etc)
- Once connected open up a web-browser and navigate to http://192.168.10.1.
- The Optimizer's webpage should come up. Login with the username superadmin and password webxaccess.
- Once logged in go the 'Network' tab at the top of the page. Then proceed to go to the 'Firewall' tab. Finally go to the 'IPSet' tab.
- Once there you will be adding two IPSets.
- IP Set Name: whatsapp1, action = pass, priority = high, value = whatsapp.com
- IP Set Name: whatsapp2, action = pass, priority = high, value = whatsapp.net
- Once you've added them click on 'Save & Apply'
- Navigate to the Firewall > Firewall Rules tab. Check the checkbox for the 'DNS' rule (not the PASS DNS rule mind you). Then click on 'Save & Apply'.
- Then go to the Network > 'DHCP and DNS' tab. Under General Settings we're going to be adding new DNS forwardings. You need to add the following forwarding entries:
- /whatsapp.com/8.8.8.8
- /whatsapp.com/8.8.4.4
- /whatsapp.net/8.8.8.8
- /whatsapp.net/8.8.4.4
- Once you've done that click on 'Save & Apply'
- Then navigate to the 'Resolv and Hosts Files' tab.
- Once there check the option 'Ignore Resolve File'.
- Once you've done that click on 'Save & Apply' and then WhatsApp should be working through the Optimizer!
